Description: I. "Attu captured. First pictures." Map of Attu in the Aleutian Islands precedes film of the naval bombardment before the approach of Marines in landing craft. Men and supplies come ashore unopposed; Japanese resistance (not visible) is reported to have ceased 18 days later.
II. "Mass lease-lend for Russia." Food and war material are unloaded from US ships in the Persian port of Basra (?). Railway engines, Ford military trucks with Russian and American lettering on the doors, Tomahawks (US star painted out) and Bostons as well as large piles of crates stand ready for transportation across the desert to Russia.
III. "Latest U-Boat Killer." A Sikorsky R4 helicopter lands and takes off on a small space on a cargo vessel as part of USAAF experiment to test whether helicopters can be used in anti-submarine work.
IV. "Home Guard - Past and Present." Item compares early Local Defence Volunteers following Eden's broadcast appeal in May 1940 with efficiency and expertise of present Home Guard, seen training and on river patrol as well as parading on its third anniversary down Hyde Park.
