Summary:
Description: I. "Premier in the City." Churchill attends the City of London's annual Festival dinner (Archbishop of Canterbury and Smuts also present) and makes a speech, referring humorously to his earlier and more anxious references to the enemy and confidently describing the present year as a series of victories. "We have broken the back of the U-Boat war which at one time seemed our greatest peril."
II. "They meet and agree in Moscow." Molotov and a group of colleagues wait at an airport for the arrival of Cordell Hull and then Eden. Red Army guard of honour marches past. The talks which lasted ten days ended with the signing on 30 October (film of ceremony) of a pact which "laid strong foundations for full Allied co-operation till the end of the war and on through the establishment of real peace." Others visible at the conference include Voroshilov and Foo Ping-Sheung signing in the name of the Chinese Government. Eden returns to Britain "in triumph" and is met at the station by his wife, Ambassador Gusev and Minister of State Richard Law.
