Description: A procession of refugees, whose old folk ride in waggons loaded with those belongings they were able to take away with them, makes its way back to Flers now that the fighting has moved further eastwards. The Inns of Court's 'C' squadron drives along the deserted main street in Briouze and makes its way eastwards along the somewhat worn-out N24 bis highway to the outskirts of Écouché where they later meet units belonging to the 2nd French Armoured Division. Armed with captured Mauser rifles and sten guns, FFI volunteers march through Écouché, which is also patrolled by the local Resistance using captured Wehrmacht trucks and requisitioned civilian cars for the purpose. A 2nd French Armoured Division unit is seen quartered in an orchard; a colonel briefs his battalion (?) officers, a fork-bearded padre gives a talk to a group of men and nurses of a medical unit check their list of stores prior to the next stage in their advance eastwards.
