Summary:
Description: I. "Messages Home" (New Series No. 4). Troops in Italy speak to the camera.
II. "The King sees new Fleet weapons." King George VI is received aboard the C-in-C's flagship by Admiral Fraser. During his visit to the Home Fleet, the King hears the Massed Bands of the Royal Marines play "Sunset", presides at a Naval morning conference, inspects FAA units (Barracudas fly past) and watches two new naval weapons in action, a midget submarine (as used against the Tirpitz) and a human torpedo (as used at Palermo). Commentary emphasises that only volunteers operate these dangerous weapons.
III. "Gustav Line broken." Troops go into action on the Cassino Front, firing mortars and machine guns. Shermans move forward. German prisoners taken include some of "Hitler's crack paratroops." USAAF planes bomb enemy lines of communication, hitting bridges on the road between Florence and Rome. Gustav Line is said everywhere to be breaking up, under the pressure of the Allied assault.
