The recently-captured Hurtebise plateau in the Marne area. It is badly churned-up, but soldiers are moving about quite openly. At the entrance to a heavily sandbagged dugout an orderly gives a message to his sector commandant. Soldiers at the entrance to, and later inside, the Cave of the Dragon, used as a shelter. French troops stand guard over a crashed Albatros CII in the Vosges region. The aircraft is in perfect condition from the tail to the gunner's cockpit, but the nose has been completely crushed. In the Marne area French troops watch as the wreck of a crashed German Aviatik CII burns.
Albert Thomas waits at Harlan station with General Berthelot, head of the French military mission, and with the President of the Council. King Carol arrives by train with his son Prince Carol, and performs the welcoming ceremony of bread and salt for Thomas. Together they watch a demonstration of military manoeuvres. The King gives Berthelot the order of Michel the Brave, following which the Rumanian soldiers with their guns pass in review.
