- Description: The archbishop and dignitaries leave the cathedral after the mass, and go into the cemetery where the archbishop pronounces a benediction over the graves. Everyone then leaves. A pan over the positions on Mont Cornillet, Mont Blond and Mont Haut (not significant heights). Two men carry food in containers down to those already in the trenches. Nearby are a few tree stumps, the remains of a wood. Some of the soldiers wander past a captured German pillbox. Guynemer is shown on the occasion of the award of his Legion of Honour in June. He explains his Spad to the awarding general and stands bareheaded for a portrait shot. The troops have all taken part in the recent French offensive at Verdun, and are on full parade with their standards. The King and Poincaré present medals and Pétain shakes hands with the recipients. The formations march past, ending with a final view of their standards.
