Summary: Collection of newsreel material, 1918.
Description: I. (Reel 1) Anglo-American boxing tournament organised by the Grand Fleet. Panning medium shot across crowds of ratings assembled on quayside around raised boxing ring - two men are fighting. US flags are prominently displayed. Crowded accommodation vessel (HMS Sutlej ?) alongside in the background. Jump cuts between bouts - two men are knocked-out. Beatty stands in the ring after awarding the prizes - Admiral Madden leads the crowd in three cheers.
II. RAF carnival at Shepperton on Thames in aid of military hospitals. Pan over crowd at river's edge - some sit in moored punts, the ladies wearing wide sun hats and holding parasols. Two coxed fours go by in a race. Two teams in punts stage a tug of war - after the contest, one team leaps into the water to cool off.
III. Facial close-up of the retiring US Ambassador, Mr Walter Hines Page, October 1918.
