- Description: The men are French I Corps and British II Corps to the south. A mixed posed group of British and French soldiers talk with one another. British officers watch a French 75mm field gun crew opening fire from a gun pit. A British relief party passes another 75mm piece. British convoys travel on the roads, which are quite muddy. These include 3-ton lorries, marching soldiers, Holt tractors pulling 9.2-inch howitzers, limbers pulling 6-inch howitzers, motor ambulances, a London bus, and horse-drawn GS wagons. French horse-drawn transport passes the other way. Other roads show more marching columns of troops and London buses used to carry them. Watched by delegations from all the regiments which fought in the offensive, General Pétain decorates the standards of the regiments which distinguished themselves most. The ceremony is held in open fields in the pouring rain. General Maistre, commanding Sixth Army which made the attack, is decorated by Pétain as a Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour. The regiments march past in salute, and display their standards.

It is significant that the official French newsreel should devote an entire issue - 33 - to the event and items of a further two issues to its aftermath, while virtually ignoring the French contribution to the later stages of the Flanders offensive, which was generally unsatisfactory
