  • Description: General Guillaumat, commanding the Army of the Orient, visits an airfield to talk with some of the pilots. The local Orthodox ceremony for Epiphany at a fishing village. The people have crowded into small boats and a priest pronounces a blessing on the sea from the quayside. A French mounted patrol near the Albanian frontier, moving along a dirt track in single file with a village in the background. Not far from Salonika, a posed group of a typical family: husband, wife, and small children beside their home, followed by an old lady knitting. A pan over the town of Vodena taken from the hills. A funeral service, with priests and people crouched low to the ground and incense swung over the grave. A pan over Verria, a town with a three-span bridge and women collecting water and washing clothes in the stream beneath it. The tombstones in an old Turkish cemetery. Festivities at an Albanian wedding, with dancing and tambourines. An Orthodox funeral procession. The peninsula and town of Kastoria on market day, with an old woman doing washing in the harbour, a number of small boys curious about the camera and people buying in the market. A small Albanian fishing boat sets out carrying two men and a veiled woman, followed by similar boats of the fishing fleet. Women in white veils go down to the mosque, which has its own minaret. Prime Minister Venizelos, General Gérome and General Zymbrakakis, visiting the front, pose in a group for the camera. They review a Greek regiment and Venizelos talks to some of the officers and men (numerous time cuts and pullbacks).
