- Summary: French newsreel showing the reaction in Belgium, Luxembourg, Alsace and Germany to the arrival of French troops, November 1918.
- Description: French officers greet Luxembourg officers in Heiderscheid. The Luxembourg troops, all quite elderly, possibly 1870 veterans, march past followed by the French. The senior French officer is read a testimonial by a small boy and given a bunch of flowers. General Guillaumat enters Neufchâteau in Belgium at the head of his men, to the cheers of the locals. Again the mayor reads him a testimonial which he receives on horseback. The march continues. In Sarrebourg in Alsace a chain of young children, young ladies in regional costume and military cadets dances past the camera. In Saverne, just north of Strasbourg, a crowd cheers a similar procession of young people in regional dress. The children are shown in close-up. In Phalsbourg, just north of Sarrebourg, locals watch as French troops and transport pass by. There is a similar French march through Brumath, where a young girl offers the senior officer a bouquet. In Haguenau, also in Alsace, a marching column of 1870 (Franco-Prussian War) veterans passes through. The senior French officer hears a speech from the veterans' leader and meets his men. The contingent marches past, followed by young girls in their regional dress. At Wissembourg (north of Strasbourg, just inside the new French border) General Gérard receives a kiss and a bouquet from a local girl. He also meets veterans of 1870, and his troops march past followed by ladies in regional dress. Gérard places a wreath on the tomb of General Douay, killed in 1870. French soldiers on the march cross the new German border near Bergzabern, north of Wissembourg, led by their band. The first squadron of 19th Chasseurs enters Landau, further north still. Little boys run alongside in curiosity but no crowds gather and the people seem to be ignoring the occupying force rather than displaying hostility. The riders halt in the main street.
