Summary: Film of the visit of Prince Fushimi of Japan to Royal Navy ships during 1918.
Description: I. Sequence depicting the visit of Japanese Prince Fushimi to the Grand Fleet. Steam pinnace from HMS Queen Elizabeth conveys the Prince and his party to the flagship where he is greeted by Admiral Beatty. Cut to the Prince inspecting a V Class destroyer. Cut back to the Prince on Queen Elizabeth - he is in the company of Prince Arthur of Connaught - US Naval officers are also present. The Prince goes onboard submarine K.16 (for this visit, see also IWM 550-01) - he and his party are given protective leather gloves to wear before descending into the submarine's interior. II. Investiture onboard HMS Queen Elizabeth. Senior officers congregate on the quarterdeck - Sturdee, Beatty and de Robeck, Madden, etc. Rear-Admiral Funakoshi comes onboard and is greeted by Beatty. There is an exchange of decorations - Funakoshi returns to the quarterdeck wearing the insignia of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George. He then invests Beatty with the Order of the Rising Sun, Grand Cordon. Final shot is a pan over newly invested Admirals - Beatty, Madden, Sturdee, Evan Thomas, de Robeck, etc.
