- Description: Part of the area is flooded. A marching column sets out for the front lines. Engineers knock in stakes for wire defences in the second line and fix wire to them. A relief patrol moves up in single file through a shattered wood. American officers in training are taken down to watch a 220mm heavy mortar firing from a hillside gun pit. Three types of finned bomb are displayed beside it. The American officers emerge from the dugout. Clémenceau is escorted by General Pershing. He talks with the divisional commander, Major-General John L Bullard. He presents the Croix de Guerre to a number of soldiers for the successful repulse of a raid. He is taken to the divisional headquarters and heavily concealed batteries of 75mm field guns nearby.
