  • Description: Three soldiers from the 16th Luftwaffe Field Division (?) taken prisoner during the opening stages of operation "Charnwood" are escorted to an improvised POW compound at Cazelle by infantrymen from the 2nd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. Several other prisoners can be seen digging slit-trenches with spades and pick-axes leant to them by their captors for protection against their own side's artillery and mortar fire; the newcomers join in with the rest. On the Douvres-la-Délivrande-Caen road, a roadblock consisting of barbed-wire barricades and warning signs, mark the beginning of no-man's land as it was before the beginning of "Charnwood"; two RAMC jeeps, one towing the other, return with casualties from La Monde followed shortly afterwards by a Fordson WOT2 15cwt truck from the 68th Medium Regiment RA.
