Summary: Reinforcements move into 158th Brigade's bridgehead across the Meuse-Escaut Canal at Lommel.
Description: Two rope-hauled Class 5 close-support rafts manned by assault pioneers from the 1st East Lancashire Regiment are seen ferrying detachments from the 7th Royal Welch Fusiliers' carrier platoon across the canal at the brigade's west raft site; Sergeant Watkins AFPU can be seen filming the crossing from the north bank. Pioneers (?) paddle across the 30 yard wide canal in a stormboat while provision has been made for a rope-hauled ferry service. At 555th Field Company RE's bridging site a quarter of a mile to the east, MPs on point duty supervise the flow of northbound traffic into the bridgehead; elements from the 53rd Reconnaissance Regiment's 'A' squadron - a Fordson 15 cwt medical stores (?) truck, a Morris II light recce car, a Bedford MW truck and M5 half-tracks and a Hunter armoured car (only partly visible) - move slowly onto the Class 9 FBE bridge.
