Film Number:A70 96-6
Summary: Additional coverage of the Soviet Military Mission's visit to Arromanches.
Description: The four-man Mission and its conducting party of officers from 2nd Army and 21st Army Group HQ and the Russian Liaison Group inspects No. 2 Trans-shipment Area and survey the activity in the Mulberry Harbour - largely veiled by poor light and mist - from the cliff-tops at Arromanches. Notes: Note: See with A70 96-5 and 99-1 for footage showing the Soviet Military Mission in London being guided around the British section of the Normandy beach-head. Refer generally to the material showing Soviet citizens in British captivity, notably A70 116-7, 126-9 and 133-3; by D plus 30 there were 1,200 Russian prisoners of war in British custody.
Remarks: Best seen with A70 96-5 which contains similar complementary footage and with the other item of ciné material as listed above.
Documentation/associated material: for a bibliography, refer to the publication listed in A70 96-5.
