Description: Seen here are Class 9 pontoon rafts and DUKWs, in service with 15th (Kent) GHQ Troops Engineers and 536th RASC GT Company respectively, engaged in ferrying troops, stores and vehicles to and fro across the Waal. Clearly visible on several of the DUKWs returning to the steep-banked south shore of the river are GIs from the 82nd US Airborne Division presently holding a sector of 30th Corps' front on the "Island". Note the fast-flowing current.
