Summary: Dramatised portrayal of an emergency rest centre for refugees from a nuclear explosion.
Description: The introduction deals with the final moments before a nuclear weapon explodes over Bristol, as essential supplies are requisitioned and delivered to the rest centres. At one centre in a school building in Bath final preparations are made as the radio announces the warning of imminent attack. The staff take shelter and then after the detonation prepare to receive refugees. The arriving survivors are given first aid and food. A few problems of aggression are encountered. An auxiliary centre is opened as the main one becomes overwhelmed and enforced billeting on local householders is undertaken. Eventually transport is mobilised to take the people further afield.
