Summary:Navy Instructional film giving an introduction to engineering in the Royal Navy. The responsibilities of the three branches, Air (AE), Marine (ME) and Weapons (WE) are explained, primarily with reference to the Leander class frigate HMS Ariadne (F.72) while in refit, and the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible (R.05) at sea. The hull features of HMS Ariadne are shown while the ship is drydocked, and the gas turbine propulsion of HMS Invincible is explained in some detail.
