Description: Although there are scenes of soldiers and Marines preparing equipment and embarking in amphibious ships the emphasis is on staff work, chain of command and logistics. ATP-8, Doctrine for Amphibious Operations, is referred to, as is the generation of the operational order for the landing, the Optask Amphib. Aircraft shown include Sea King Commando, Wessex and Gazelle helicopters. Ships shown include the Round Table Class LSLs (Landing Ship Logistics) RFA Sir Bedivere (L.3004), RFA Sir Geraint (L.3027) and RFA Sir Percivale (L.3036) and Landing Platform Dock HMS Fearless (L.10). The film opens with scenes from earlier amphibious operations, including still photographs of the 1915 Gallipoli landings, film of soldiers disembarking from landing craft on D-Day, 6th June 1944, and during the Suez crisis of 1956. There is also a short clip of Argentine aircraft attacking the British task force off the Falkland Islands in 1982, including a Landing Platform Dock, either HMS Fearless (L.10) or HMS Intrepid (L.11) and an unidentified Landing Ship Logistics.
