Summary: Film of the first atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll.
Description: The "heavily censored" film of the preparations, detonation and after-effects of "atom bomb no." (which was exploded in mid air above the target). Preparations include placing samples of various material, along with livestock (shaved and anointed with protective ointment), on the vessels in the target area. The dropping aircraft (the B-29 "Dave's Dream") is loaded behind screens, and takes off. The event is closely followed by the scientific team and the media. Several shots of the explosion are shown. Monitoring teams move into the area shortly after the blast to assess radiation levels and damage. Fires are fought on some of the ships.
