Summary:
Description: I. "Animals at war." a. Training of dogs in the USA for front line combat; handlers are servicemen. b. Elephants shift timber in the forests of Assam. View of baby elephant beside its mother.
II. "Old pals meet again." Captured German film records the escape of Mussolini, his arrival by plane at Hitler's HQ and his meeting with Führer, his son Bruno and Ribbentrop.
III. "These are the men." Announcement of the names of the Allied commanders who are to plan and execute the invasion of Europe and the defeat of Germany is accompanied by brief stock shot views of Eisenhower, Tedder, Montgomery, Ramsay, Leigh-Mallory, Spaatz, Wilson, Devers and Alexander. All are "well tried men" as indeed are the forces under their command. A cautionary note in the midst of this spirit of optimism ("will not be a walkover") is struck in order to check excessive confidence.
