Former prisoners of war are issued new clothing. Some of the prisoners appear to be Indian, others Gurkhas. Hats are issued. One man dons a new hat (with a very high, domed crown) and looks at the camera. Another man is clearly pleased. Wider shot of the camp. New mess tins are issued. Line of men waiting at the docks; Landing Craft Infantry (Large) (LCI(L)) 135 is berthed. Tilt and pan to the landing craft with sailors waiting on board. A soldier standing in front of a large crowd of civilians, including children; miniature Chinese flags are waved. A view of the Singapore Municipal Building, with Union flag flying from the flagpole. At a camp, Indian officers speak with former prisoners. An Indian officer with ‘Official Photographer’ epaulettes addresses the men, but then moves to warmly embrace one of them and shakes his hand. They seem familiar. Elsewhere another group of prisoners, several of them Sikhs. At least one man present is a photographer.
