  • Description: I. a. "Legs on Parade." Beauty contest for long legged ladies in New Jersey. b. "Jumping jeeps." Demonstration drive by a jeep which races and bounces across rough country before tipping over on its nose. II. "Village tribute to VC." Major Le Patourel, with his mother and sister, is presented with an illuminated scroll by his adopted Yorkshire village of Huntingdon. After watching the villagers parade by, the Major makes a brief speech mentioning how grateful POWs are who receive parcels from home via the Red Cross. III. "US yards break records." Lady Halifax christens and launches the USN aircraft carrier Natoma Bay. Great importance which the Allies attach to ship building is indicated by night-time construction scenes in a US yard. IV. "RAF preparing the way." Two separate raids show Bostons bombing the German naval stores depot at Rennes (low level attack with delayed action bombs) and attacking the airfield at AbbĂ©ville ("earth waves" visible from a great height).
