Summary: Second World War British Ministry of Information animated cartoon newsreel trailer encouraging people to invest their money in National Savings.
Description: The film opens with a map of England and stylised figures of two women. The women each stand by a small table piled with coins "Daisy and Joan have money to spare, watch the money beside them there, see what happens to money that's spent, and what to money that's saved and lent". Behind the two women are images of a shop and a post office, Daisy's coins go to the shop to buy clothes and Joan's coins go to the Post Office and are exchanged for National Savings stamps. "We'll start with Daisy, she's fashion crazy, and squanders her money on this and that, on blouse, umbrella and bag and hat. Joan, however, is much more clever, she saves her money and lends it too, a much more sensible thing to do, and what she saves the country gains, in greater production of tanks and planes. If all were as selfish as Daisy appears, the war would go on for years and years. Behave like Joan and do what's right and it won't be long 'til the end's in sight. When the war is over and Victory won, the hat and bag and the blouse are done, But Joan has her loan and the interest due, to buy her house and furniture too". Joan is seen by the side of her furnished house (including a parrot in a cage) with Daisy standing outside holding a tattered umbrella. "Now Daisy has only a broken down brolly and even the parrot can laugh at her folly. She should have remembered it pays to lend, you save at the start and you're safe at the end". The film ends with the caption SAVE AND LEND FOR VICTORY.
