Summary:
Description: I. "Philippines Naval Victory." Martlets take off from a USN aircraft carrier, part of the large naval force which protected MacArthur's landings at Leyte, indicated by a map. The USS Princetown comes under fire from a Japanese fighter-bomber which releases a bomb close to the bows of the carrier before being hit by ack-ack and plunging out of control into the sea. A massive explosion on board the distant Princetown precedes the sinking of the carrier by US ships after her magazine blew up. Damaged Helldivers land skilfully on another carrier. Subsequent naval battle in which 60 Japanese warships are claimed sunk or damaged is illustrated diagrammatically and by night film of ships firing.
II. "Killing the Luftwaffe." Camera gun film of 8th Army AF shooting up airfields, Me 109s (pilot bails out), Me 163 and Me 262.
III. "Clearing Alsace Lorraine." 7th Army moves through Vosges, finding abandoned German heavy artillery before liberating town. French 1st Army liberates deserted Mulhouse, later crowded with Tricolour-waving civilians who ransack the Gestapo HQ. Tanks move through Strasbourg where General von Vaterrodt surrenders.
