Description: Stretcher bearers bringing in a casualty in a wooded area in northern Burma. They set down the stretcher. Lighting a wounded man’s cigarette; he looks at the camera. Putting a stretcher case onto an ambulance. Another stretcher carried past. Closer shot British casualty put onto an ambulance for transfer to Main Dressing Station. Stretcher case being carried through low undergrowth in woodland. Infantry, probably of 2nd Battalion The Buffs, advancing through trees. Stretcher bearers with collapsed stretcher. Infantry advancing; the light through the trees is striking and smoke hangs in the air from bombing. Men advancing; Major-General Francis Festing, commander 36th Division, can be seen amongst them (a tall man with slung M1 Carbine and a pipe in his mouth). Mule train passing. At the Regimental Aid Post, a wounded man on stretcher with cigarette in his mouth passes a medical card to another man with a pipe.
