Summary: Documentary about the 12 year state of emergency in Malaya 1948-60, including interviews with many of the leading figures today .
Description: The documentary blends footage shot in Malaya today with footage taken during the 1948-60 crisis showing British troops and Communist terrorists in the jungle, with still photographs. There are interviews today with many of the prominent figures involved who, as they are mostly British, present the story as an essentially British victory over terrorist guerrilla activities without the huge escalation of military effort that occurred elsewhere in South East Asia. Amongst those interviewed are Sir Robert Thompson, Malcolm McDonald, Leslie Thomas, Bill Stafford (Police Officer), Dr Reid Tweedie (local doctor), Noel Barber (historian), General Sir Gerald Templer, Guy Madoc (Head of Intelligence), General Sir Walter Walker and Tunku Abdul Rahman. Chin Peng is seen in film and photographs.
