Summary:
Description: Six Humber FWD 8-cwt light field ambulances are seen parked in a line outside a farm at Colleville used by 212th Field Ambulance RAMC as a Casualty Clearing Station; note that they are parked on an earth bank designed to act as a blast screen. The cameraman focuses on one of the Humber ambulances damaged by enemy action in the course of ferrying casualties from 160th Brigade's sector of 53rd Division's front in the Odon Valley to safety; the windscreen has been holed and shattered by small-arms fire while the body sides and rear doors bear jagged penetrations caused by mortar shrapnel. Note the large Red Cross emblems on each of the ambulances and the 35mph speed restriction notice on the windscreen of the damaged vehicle.
