Description: Elements of the 11th Armoured Division in the form of infantrymen serving with the 1st Battalion Hereford Regiment riding in a Bedford QLT lorry and Universal carrier detachments from the 4th Battalion King's Shropshire Light Infantry are greeted with flowers as they motor through Gacé the morning after its liberation by 159th Brigade Group. Outside the Préfecture, a large crowd gathers and joins the town mayor in singing the "Marseillaise". Lieutenant-Colonel Byron, the commanding officer of the 4/7th Dragoon Guards, makes his way through the throng carrying a bouquet of flowers.
