- Title: MIND YOUR BUSINESS! [Main Title]
- Film Number: DRA 1066~1070
- Other titles: COLLECTION OF RADAR FILMS FROM TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH ESTABLISHMENT, MALVERN [Allocated Series Title]
- Summary: Post-war security films with a "careless talk costs lives" message, although the precise enemy is never stated.
- Description: 1) Possibly Waterloo Station. A train pulls out from the platform. Inside a carriage Lieutenant Commander Brown reads secret papers. An older gentleman sitting beside him reads over the Lieutenant's shoulder. Later the same older man discusses the contents of the papers with his friends at a card game. One of the card players is later seen in a pub discussing the classified information over a pint and a game of pool. We are shown various images of Army personnel reading classified documents. Title: SECURITY IS YOUR BUSINESS... NOW AND ALWAYS. 2) A half dressed woman (Jane) answers a telephone while displaying her legs. At the other end of the line we see Dick, her boyfriend, who cancels a date. There appears to be a crossed line, and we see two Lieutenants exchanging classified information about the whereabouts of the parachute regiment, which Jane and Dick overhear. Later, Dick reports this information to his colleagues who are playing pool in the mess room. Jane telephones a friend to report the details. Title: SECURITY IS YOUR BUSINESS... NOW AND ALWAYS. 3) A group of soldiers are in a briefing which the commanding officer informs them is top secret. After, one of the men present, Kenny, is seen discussing the information with Percy in a bathroom. He is reprimanded by a third soldier. Undeterred, Kenny goes on to pass on the classified details to a friend while queuing for the cinema. Civilians also overhear the conversation. We see a poster for a Western movie (real or imagined?) "Some Guys Talk Too Much", starring Larry Brank and Gloria Crane, and directed by Leon Myer. Title: SECURITY IS YOUR BUSINESS... NOW AND ALWAYS. 4) Three men in military uniform march along a dingy alley where barred windows can be seen in the background. They are stopped by a suspicious-looking character in a cloak and false moustache who introduces himself as a foreign spy and requests information. The soldiers willingly oblige and tell him military secrets. The voice over explains that this is not how espionage really works. We see a pub sign boasting Whitney's Ales. Inside, a group of soldiers play darts, and talk in code about their coming missions. The commentator explains how easy it is for this information to be decoded, and we are shown other drinkers in the pub who may all be spies. A shifty blonde man leaves the bar.
