Description: A tribute to Winston Churchill on his 70th birthday (30 November). Shots of his place of birth, Blenheim Palace, are followed by a brief résumé of Churchill's youth, First World War experience, and entry into politics. He makes a brief speech when standing for his fourth term as MP for Epping. 1939: As First Lord of the Admiralty, he welcomes the Naval heroes of the Battle of the River Plate. 1940: As Prime Minister, he leads the nation through Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, and the Blitz. Churchill speaks: "We will have no truce or parley ..." He visits bombed sites in London. 1941: He meets President Roosevelt at sea. 1942: Churchill meets Stalin in Moscow, then greets Montgomery in Africa after El Alamein. He visits Tripoli and Malta. Mrs Churchill works on the Home Front. 1943: Conferences at Cairo and Teheran. Churchill contracts pneumonia. Flashback to June, 1941: "Lift up Your Hearts". 1944: Churchill visits the beaches of Northern France and celebrates Armistice Day in Paris.
