Title:POLISH MATERIAL : outbreak of war [Allocated Title]
Film Number:RMY 90-2
Other titles:
Summary: A survey of the last moments before the German attack on Poland.
Description: Film uses stock-shot material of the four capitals Warsaw, Berlin, London and Paris, intercut with parades, newspaper montages and the face of a clock to suggest the rise in tension before the outbreak of war. Goebbels' and Hitler's propaganda lies, and the signing of the Moscow pact, blacken the clouds over Poland. "Poland loves peace and is well-armed and well-disciplined", film of Polish cavalry and artillery supporting this claim. In the calm before the storm, Poles enjoy themselves at the horse races and watch a waiters' race. On this "beautiful and freedom-loving stage of Poland the drama is soon going to unfold". German troop movements and Polish refugees show that Poland's martyrdom has begun. The film ends abruptly.
