- Description: I. SPECIAL SUPPLEMENT- 'LATEST NEWS.' An item covering the first official visit of King Ibn Saud of Arabia to King Farouk of Egypt. King Ibn Saud's royal yacht Marusa arrives at Suez. King Farouk, Egyptian Premier, Fahmy Mahmud el-Nokrashy Pasha, and other dignitaries meet King Ibn Saud as he disembarks from his yacht. King Farouk and King Ibn Saud review an Egyptian Army guard of honour armed with Lee-Enfield Mk III .303-inch rifles. The royal party leaves for the railway station where they catch a train for Cairo. Both Kings ride in a horse-drawn carriage to the Abdine Palace. Roadside crowds cheer and wave. II. 'NEWS FROM GERMANY.' Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery visits a Friedland refugee camp during his three day tour of the Harz Mountain region. Montgomery talks to German women and children refugees who have travelled from the Russian zone. Montgomery later arrives at a checkpoint where many refugees wait to enter the British zone. Field Marshal Montgomery is accompanied by General Hull of the British Fifth Division. Montgomery is driven under Fifth Division escort to Göttingen in Lower Saxony, where he visits a camp for Polish refugees. Field Marshal Montgomery addresses a gathering of Polish refugees at the snow-covered camp, later receiving the traditional Polish gift of bread and salt as a token of friendship and welcome. A little girl presents him with a bouquet of flowers. III. 'NEWS FROM ENGLAND.' Large crowds watch the first full scale Varsity rugby football match held at Twickenham since 1938. King George VI meets the Oxford and Cambridge teams prior to the match. Highlights of the game follow. Canadian troops stage a rodeo at Guildford, Surrey. Canadian "cowboys" ride horses and steers at a well-attended event. Scantily clad "cowgirls" ride appreciative pantomime horses. A stagecoach is held up by mock Red Indians, its occupants are inevitably saved by the timely arrival of the cavalry. IV. 'PALESTINE.' British troops clear rubble from the bombed police Headquarters in Jerusalem. The new British High Commissioner, General Sir Alan Cunningham is shown in discussion with the Inspector General of Police at the scene of the attack. British infantry armed with Lee-Enfield No.IV rifles stand guard on a Jerusalem street. Deserted streets bear testimony to the British curfew introduced following the bombings of December 1945. British soft-skinned vehicles carrying the coffins of the officials killed in the headquarters bombing drive past the walls of the Old City. A solemn funeral procession winds its way through Roman pines to a burial ground above the Bethlehem Road. A British Army guard of honour fires a volley over the graves from their Lee-Enfield No.IV rifles.
