Summary: Bad weather adversely affects the unloading of urgently needed supplies for the US armies at "Omaha" Beach.
Description: A heavy bulldozer from 147th US Combat Engineers ploughs its way through water-logged sand on "Dog" Beach at Vierville; GMC cargo lorries, a White/Quickway E55 mobile crane and an LVT(4) Buffalo can be seen in a vehicle park in the Background. The Bulldozer pushes a Studebaker cargo lorry across the beach; the lorry driver's mate watches its rear wheels spin uselessly in liquid mud when the Studebaker gets stuck again. To demonstrate further the atrocious conditions, a second recovery bulldozer pushes an IHC 5-ton tractor off the beach road into the mud (note DUKWs and stockpiled stores in the background); unable to get any grip in the mud, the tractor has to be pushed back onto the road. A 463rd Ammunition Company DUKW driven by a Black serviceman fails to drag another DUKW free; two drivers investigate the problem - note the snapped tow rope. Dodge 3/4 and 1½ ton weapons carriers, IHC 5-ton tractors and 10-ton semi-trailers (some carrying crated stores) motor eastwards along "Dog" Beach past stores unloading points in the opposite direction to a mud-covered Chevrolet staff car.
