Summary: Promotional film for the Westland Lynx helicopter in its naval rôle.
Description: A Lynx is shown landing on and taking off from the Type 42 destroyer HMS Birmingham (D.86) and the County Class destroyer HMS Norfolk (D.21). A hydraulically operated test platform, simulating the motion of a ship at sea, is used for deck landing trials on shore, and at sea Lynx helicopters are shown engaging targets with Sting Ray anti-submarine torpedoes and Sea Skua anti-ship missiles, using dipping sonar to detect submerged targets, winching a man out of the sea, carrying an underslung load and operating at night.
