Summary: Operation took place on 18/19th July 1944. The films were accompanied by a set of slides and an Instructor's handbook. The aim of this War Studies Training Package is to form the basis of and background to a wide variety of military studies, the lessons from which have relevance to present day military considerations. With the aid of the handbook, the slides may be used in lieu of, or in conjunction with the films, as well as during discussion following the films. Although the package is designed as a detailed basis for a wide-ranging Study Period, the films alone illustrate clearly the stresses and strains of war and the hardships that must be faced on the battlefield. As such the films are eminently suitable as "introduction to War" for those who have no experience of battle. - The strategic position before Operation GOODWOOD.
