Summary:
Description: I. In Rouen, civilians line the route as troops from the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders and 152nd Brigade HQ drive through the Place de Napoleon 1er past the Church of St Ouen and the Hotel de Ville in a universal carrier, a battered ex-Wehrmacht Chevrolet Model 1936 staff car and a Fordson 16-cwt truck and trailer. On the outskirts of the city, troops from either the 2nd or 5th Seaforth Highlanders riding in a Bedford QLT lorry from 322nd Troop Carrying Company RASC follow a Sherman tank from the ERY's 'A' squadron into Maromme along the N14: a lance corporal MP directs more traffic - another troop-laden Bedford QLT, two universal carrier detachments (one with a 6 pounder anti- tank gun in tow) and several 15-cwt trucks - in their wake. In Doudeville, a crowd gathers round an effigy of Hitler (wearing a German officers' cap and greatcoat) and make appropriate gestures for the camera.
II. Accompanied by universal carrier detachments from the 1/7th Battalion Middlesex Regiment and a crowd of civilians, the 5th Battalion Cameron Highlanders 'D' Company marches into St-Valery-en-Caux with its major and five pipers at the head of the procession.
