Description: Tanks and missile sites are prepared for action, troops dig defensive trenches and the active part of the exercise begins with tanks and missile sites engaging targets. Command posts are shown, with senior officers directing the battle. A MiG 31 'Foxhound' aircraft takes off, MiG 21 'Fishbed' aircraft support the ground forces and amphibious vehicles deploy onto beaches. Tanks and armoured personnel carriers prepare and engage targets, tank soldiers attend a classroom lesson and further scenes of tanks in operation follow. An Il-14 'Crate' takes off, various photos of civilian vessels at sea, including Greenpeace ships, are shown and the aircraft lands. Various warships and naval helicopters are shown at sea and sailors handle mooring lines, raise the anchor and carry out damage control exercises. A Ka-25 'Hormone' helicopter has its rotors spread in preparation for flight, and takes off shortly after. Czech officers visit a KGB unit, various aspects of a command post and associated antennae appear and soldiers demonstrate their physical fitness, unarmed combat skills and ability to break bricks with their bare hands. Soldiers provide disaster relief after an earthquake in Armenia, various armoured vehicles are shown in Afghanistan, Mi-24 'Hind' and Mi-8 'Hip' helicopters fly over an Afghan landscape and Lieutenant General Gromov, commanding Afghan Soviet troops, is interviewed.
