Summary: Second World War British Ministry of Information newsreel trailer warning of the dangers of roads and advising mothers to teach their children road safety.
Description: The film opens with brief shot of a group of young children playing in the street. A young boy follows his ball in the road and is hit by a car. The injured child is taken away in a LCC ambulance. The commentary states " every day at least four children are killed and at least eighty severely injured on the roads of Great Britain. Children must play, but streets are a dangerous place". Shots of young children playing with a ball in the street and a group of older boys roller skating in the road. The commentary continues, advising that children should play in school playgrounds, many of which remain open after school (shot of boys playing cricket school playground), children should use park playgrounds (crowded park playground with younger children playing on swings and seesaws), mothers should warn their children against playing near parked cars which may move off without notice, adults should not jaywalk particularly when crossing roads with children and mothers should teach their children that the road is for motor traffic and the footpath is for people. The commentary advises on crossing the roads, stop and look both ways before crossing, make use of pedestrian crossings and walk, do not run (a mother and her three children cross the roads carefully following this advice and then say goodbye at the school gate). The commentary concludes "By teaching your child road sense you will be rendering a service to the whole country".
