Summary: Library material covers occupation of islands by Free French Naval Force.
Description: Meteorological broadcasts from St Pierre and Miquelon which aid U-boat attacks against shipping justify operation by Free French Naval Force on 24 December 1941. "General de Gaulle would not be General de Gaulle if he accepted this insult to the honour of France." Operation to allow islanders ("this France in miniature") to choose between Free French and Collaboration causes 98% to choose former. Admiral Muselier inspects sailors under his command. Snippets of library film including HMS Anthony in port, Le Fantasque Class destroyers, HMS Icarus, Lorraine and Suffren and (non-Free French) Guépard Class destroyer, make up for absence of coverage of event. Film concludes with assertion over portrait of de Gaulle that spirit of the Marne and Verdun is still alive and that France "man by man and piece by piece" will rejoin the war".
