Summary:
Description: I. "Three VC's." Relatives of three men posthumously awarded the VC (Private Wakenshaw, Flying Officer Manser, Commander Wanklyn) stand outside Buckingham Palace after the investiture. Mrs Wakenshaw speaks from the doorway of her house about her late husband: "Well, I wasn't surprised, he really was a tough lad, willing to help anyone."
II. "Round the clock raids." Recce photos of last year's 1000 bomber raid on Cologne reveal the devastation caused then and since by aerial attack ("Jerry started this type of argument"). Three members of a squadron back from a raid on Berlin on Luftwaffe day describe the raid variously as "a wizard prang", "very successful" and "helping to finish this war very much sooner." Rest of the squadron, an Australian one, stand on and beneath the wings of an Avro Lancaster aircraft. German reprisal raid which damaged some houses is condemned as an "indiscriminate attack." Meanwhile daylight raids on Occupied Europe continue round the clock, as on the Philips works at Eindhoven. Such raids are a "prelude to the opening of a second front."
