Summary:
Description: I. "Argentine revolt." Riot scenes in the main street of Buenos Aires, with a bus being tipped over and set alight and military vehicles and the police in evidence, as the people rebel against the policy of "prudent neutrality" (pro-Axis) of President Castillo. This successful Army revolt installs a new regime under General Ramirez, seen on a balcony acknowledging applause.
II. "Air War takes toll." Increasing importance of air strikes against the enemy is illustrated by aerial film of three separate USAAF attacks: on a U-Boat base, on the Italian mainland and islands and against a Japanese ship in the Pacific. During the first incident a lone (unidentified) biplane is visible above the bombers which fly through heavy flak. Two Liberators make spectacular crash-landings, one skilfully pancaking and the other bouncing and slewing round before crashing in a cloud of dust.
III. "Premier's Guildhall speech." Winston Churchill, with wife and daughters Mary and Sarah, drives by carriage to Guildhall, where the City of London Home Guard parades. After receiving the Freedom of the City. Churchill speaks, describing the war as being for the freedom and progress of mankind, referring to the "exterminating force" of the Allied air offensive and concluding "We demand unconditional surrender."
