Summary: Newsreel accompanied by an official trailer (but see 'NOTES') asking housewives to put out their milk tops on the doorstep as well as their empty milk bottles.
Description: I. "Berlin's first big dose." Incendiaries are loaded up and bombers take off in the dusk on their way to attack Berlin. Aerial film shows bombs exploding and fires burning over a wide area.
II. "Churchill in Canada." Churchill arrives with his wife and daughter Mary at the Citadel in Quebec. Mackenzie King also present. First conference is held at Château Frontenac Hotel where crowds cheer Churchill. Canadian Mountie shows sights to Clementine Churchill.
III. "Lord Louis - C-in-C South East Asia." One result of the Quebec conference is the new appointment of Mountbatten, who is seen in naval "whites", with Eisenhower and then making a speech: "war can only be won when the soldiers have gone in and taken physical possession."
IV. "Navy clears Eastern Sicily." Night and day naval bombardment.
V. "Messina - Italy next." Aerial view of now captured Messina, then ground views of destruction caused by Allied air strikes (dock railhead, ferry terminus, sunken ship). Civilians stand beside the tunnel in which they sheltered. US flag and White Ensign raised. Montgomery gives cigarettes to troops. View across Straits.
