Description: I. "Nearer Victory." A summary of the victorious achievements of the British forces in North Africa and Italy during the past year. Animated maps suggest the irresistible advance of the British Army in this area as commentary praises the first class leadership and men responsible for success after success. Extremely brief mention is made of the Allied contribution before item scoffs at Italian population, sneering at the "unselfish comradeship of the queues" for food and work and expressing doubt about the sincerity of the Italian change of sides. Using the technique of "THESE ARE THE MEN" (fitting different words to views of gesticulating fascists) item jeers at a Sicilian under interrogation before mocking the "paranoiac" pretensions of Hitler ("1944 will see the elimination of World's arch criminal") using the same technique (Hitler speaking at 1934 Nuremberg Rally. - "I am not even a German").
II. "Scharnhorst sunk." Item announces sinking of Scharnhorst by showing film of launching of Prinz Eugen, views of the Scharnhorst at sea and during the Channel Dash and film of the RN vessels under command of Admiral Fraser which participated in the engagement, including HMS Duke of York.
