Summary:
Description: I. "England's soccer Victory." Teams representing Scotland and England are presented to the King before the match at Wembley which ends with a victory for England, 6-2. Royal family as well as Montgomery, Attlee and King Haakon are in the audience.
II. "Luftwaffe tries reprisals." Commentary makes light of recent German air attacks on Britain, as film shows rescue work among the rubble of houses, but says these raids must be "a warning to us."
III. "Blasting the Reich." Luftwaffe raids on Britain are "pinpricks" by comparison with the "scientific, concentrated saturation attacks" by the RAF on "industrial areas" in Germany. The September raid on Mannheim-Ludwigshafen is described in detail with the aid of maps, stills and movie film; Pathfinder flares, photo-flash explosions, HE and incendiary bombs are identified over the target area, the Rhine and Neckar rivers being clearly visible far below.
