Summary:
Description: I. "Marauders' mission." Commander of the Tactical Invasion Air Force, Major-General Brereton, speaks briefly to the camera from his office and describes the important role his force will play during the Invasion of Europe. Film of USAAF Marauders on a bombing mission against an airfield near Venlo in Holland is described as typical of the operations being carried out day and night against enemy installations in France, Belgium and Holland. Planes take off and fly over the Channel; crew change caps for anti-flak helmets as they fly over the Dutch coast passing through puffs of flak. Clouds of black smoke billow skywards as bombs blast the airfield runway and buildings. Medical personnel beside ambulances await the return of the Marauders to Britain; one damaged plane trails smoke while another with its undercarriage jammed fires a flare as it approaches the runway and makes a perfect crash landing.
