Summary:
Description: I. "Science saves life." a. A new air-suit, designed to counter the danger to pilots of black-out during dives or tight turns, is demonstrated in Canada where it has been developed by members of the RCAF and scientists of Toronto University (seen standing together). An airman tests the suit in a model cockpit which simulates the effect of gravity ("G") on the pilot. b. An apparatus which enables a person to be picked up by a plane in flight is demonstrated, first attached to a sheep and then a Parachute Lieutenant.
II. "The bulge shrinking." US 9th Army Air Force Marauders bomb the Rundstedt Salient and a railway bridge across the Moselle; one of the planes is shot down by flak. Ground-level film shows the US 1st Army moving forward over snow-covered roads and woods. Snow surrounds the River Meuse. British Army presses on despite difficult weather conditions: Sherman tanks skate on the ice, SPGs fire at a distant village. Aerial view of Bastogne introduces film of Major General Taylor congratulating Brigadier General McAuliffe for his defence of the town. German prisoners are marched off.
