Summary:
Description: I. "Athens pays tribute to Britain." Greek Trade Union leaders outside the British Embassy with the Ambassador Leeper are alleged to have come to "thank Britain for having restored order." "Grateful villagers" in Greek national costume thank General Scobie. In Athens, large crowds of Royalists rejoice: some allegedly chanted "Scobie, Churchill", while others are seen carrying portraits of the King. A single Union jack and US flag appear prominently on the screen.
II. "Into Germany from Roer Salient." Infantry and tanks of the 2nd Army move forward, although "the going is tough" with cold and snow adding difficulty to their advance across the open plains. Optimistic German Slogans ("Mit unserem Führer zum Sieg") are contrasted with captured Germans, one of whom appears to be acting "the frightened Hun" for the camera's benefit. Flail-tanks blow up mines, dynamite attached to a tree is removed and the next small village is captured.
III. "St. Nazaire evacuation." Railway workers repair the line at Cordemais between occupied St. Nazaire and Nantes; German truce officers arrive, first evacuation train passes by; nurses carry children from train at Nantes.
