Summary:
Description: I. "Strafing Tokyo." USN fighter-bombers take off from aircraft-carriers in heavy seas to attack Tokyo at the time of the landings on Iwo Jima. Planes strafe shipping in Tokyo harbour as well as land targets, including airfields in which planes stand apparently unprepared.
II. "In Germany - Front line records." Tanks and infantry of the US 3rd Army move into Frankfurt and wear down enemy opposition. Results of Allied bombing attacks are very evident. After the cessation of fighting Americans drive through the town, watched by civilians ("some scared, some relieved") standing in the streets. Liberated foreign workers loot a cigarette shop in the city. German civilians loot a train, men and women flinging clothes and other objects from the trucks onto the rails where others grab the spoils. American and other Allied POWs, freed from a camp near Wetzlar, pose with their camp doctor (a German). In the British sector troops push on towards Hanover. Commander of 30th Corps General Horrocks is seen with his staff in the field.
