Summary: "One of a film series about jobs after the war". In this case, nursing and health.
Description: A survey of the careers besides nursing open to women in the hospital service. A WAAF control-tower operator feels a vocation to nursing as she watches wounded soldiers being helped from a Dakota ambulance plane, but when she seeks to enrol for training, her local hospital has no places, and commitment to her parents precludes her going elsewhere. Distracted by her disappointment, she is knocked down by a lorry, breaking her leg. In hospital she naturally takes a keen interest in what goes on around her, and talks with a radiographer, a dietician, a physiotherapist and an almoner. Each in turn describes her work, starting with a general account of what is involved and going on to relate the story of an incident which illustrates some aspect of the responsibility and significance of the post in the broad hospital or social context. In conversation with a doctor at her discharge, the film's argument is summarised; the girl is not seen to decide, but asks the audience "What would you choose?"
